After-life Cleans

Here at What Cleaning Afterlife, we understand how difficult it can be to lose a loved one. The grieving process does not just involve the emotional loss of a partner, family member or friend but it also includes the undue stress of what to do when a said loved one passes away at home or any location that is not a hospital. Once the body has been carefully and delicately removed, its our turn to come in an ensure that the property is returned to a professionally cleaned condition that is hygienically safe to access once more.

When is it time to act? We have outlined the stages below of body decomposition. Just a mere 4 minutes after passing, the body already begins to decompose. So, when is it time to act? The answer is simple, as soon as possible. Failure to act soon enough will result in the exiting fluids causing serious damage and harm to the surrounding environment. Left for long enough, bodily fluid will decompose material such a fabric/upholstery, carpets, underlay, wood flooring and will even go as far as permanently staining concrete.

- 24-72 hours after death — the internal organs decompose.

- 3-5 days after death — the body starts to bloat and blood-containing foam leaks from the mouth and nose.

- 8-10 days after death — the body turns from green to red as the blood decomposes and the organs in the abdomen accumulate gas.

- Several weeks after death — nails and teeth fall out.

- 1 month after death — the body starts to liquify.

With the utmost care and attention, we delicately talk you through each stage of the property recovery, which should help you to understand the process and therefore, allow you to grieve as you wish. Rather than the additional stress of reaching out to multiple companies to take care of each stage of the property recovery, we take care of it all.

Below are the steps we take to restore the property to a hygienic and safe environment:

- We start with an initial site assessment.

- We will then remove any damaged items/property. This includes the removal of furniture, carpets, underlay or anything else which may be deemed unsafe for future use due to a decomposing body.

- Next we send a dedicated team of cleaning experts with the correct and appropriate machinery and chemicals to help deliver a safe environment.

- After the removals and clean have been completed a final site assessment will be carried out to ensure the property is returned to you in a safe, usable and livable condition.
